Depends what you're talking about outsourcing. My experience outsourcing tax prep work has been overall extremely positive. We are able to get quality work completed on individual/trust tax returns during the lead up to 3/15, minimize stress on our internal staff, and better meet client expectations for turnaround. It's also cheaper than using internal staff in a lot of cases.
I’m here, too. For repetitive, rote processes, it’s great.
Outside of that, any expectation for your offshore teams to exercise judgement is a massive gamble, and you’re still going to be doing the hard parts yourself plus managing your offshore team on top of it which is a project on top of your engagements in and of itself.
For example, I get emails that merit a “no shit” response and they stop working on stuff overnight pending that answer from me. I don’t understand how anything past blindly rolling PY and grinding returns is so hard.
