Microsoft is hiring an account executive and I’m really interested in the role. I have B2B sales experience in a different industry, but my skills include lead generation, prospecting, account management, negotiating, etc (all within the C Suite and other decision makers).
Would appreciate knowing if this is something I have a shot at with no tech sales experience and what I could expect for promotional opportunities and compensation.
Thanks for the help!

No it is not necessary if you are moving into a CSA role. Scripting is a plus as you will work with automating some things for customers you work with or building your own templates for testing and so on but no. I am a CSA for Apps and Infra and I never do any dev work.
I work with CSAs across security, Data and AI, and so on and not many do programming (outside of automation templates using Terraform, Azure Bicep, Powershell, and Azure CLI. Hope that helps.
That's refreshing to hear but why is it that job vacancies and recruiters always want you to have all the programming knowledge out there. At least that has been my experience and it has been frustrating to say the least
