Has anyone gone to law school after working in public accounting for a couple of years? I am currently an A2 in IT Audit (campus hire) and just kind of wanting to know if this is a good option or if I’m crazy.

If you're gonna do it, make sure it's a top ranked program and you go for big law, otherwise you're gonna be saddled with debt with no way to pay it off.

Lmao as if big law is something you can just "try". Big law is highly competitive and if he hasnt already made it, then there's little to no chance he'll get there now.

like

Depends on what your ultimate goal is. Getting a law degree is a means to an end. What is the end that you're aiming for?

like

If you can go to one of those top law schools, it is totally worth it. One of my college friend was an auditor at midtier PA for a few years. After law school he went to V5 law firm and now earning a lot of money.

like

What do you want to do after law school with that education?

I’m thinking I would like to do something with a mix of business and technology, so like smart contracts with blockchain and crypto

Only go if you can get into a top tier law school (top 14). Then go to biglaw (but understand your WLB will be nonexistent for a few years). If you’re going to just come back to PA, then it would not be worth it at all.

I didn't even go into a T50 and I still had my choice of V10 firms, it's all about how well you do once you're in law school.
And yes, biglaw starts at 215 now, not including bonuses.

My two cents - your time and money is better spent elsewhere on something that directly sets you up for what you want to do. You say you want to work in blockchain / crypto - spend your free time finding companies in the space and networking and figure out a way to get your foot in the door.

Go to law school, burn a few years and incur a few hundred K in debt in doing so (to say nothing of the opportunity cost) and you’re still going to be more or less in the same position you are today but with huge loans to deal with. Maybe I’m a cynic, but of the many many people in my network that went through law school almost none would do it over, including those making good money in big law.

I'm looking forward to go for MBA/changing technology, which one would be a better option? In case of the latter can you guys suggest lucrative technologies which has little/no coding and can definitely give good packages? I've tried changing jobs in Basis for nearly one year and didn't get through. Please help me.

Hi - I’ve moved to Toronto (from Asia) with 5 YOE in Corporate banking + 2 YOE IB/capital markets (7 YOE in TOTAL) working roles in Front Office and financial analysis.

Believe I’d be a great fit as an Associate in the same space at the major banks (RBC, TD, Scotia, CIBC etc) or in PE/ Asset management.

Could someone help by mentioning the salary ranges I can expect?

Also any tips on networking would be appreciated. Thank you!
