I had final techno manager round which was completed on 30 Mar, and after ugadi holiday, on 6th I have received the positive feedback and confirmation mail and asked to share the payslips and relevant documents. Still waiting for the offer letter. Called HR on 20th April for the updates, she told she is working on my offer and it will release soon. Any ideas on this fishes?Cerner Corporation

I'd probably put it in the same camp as San Diego, high cost of living in the city but somewhere between mid/high cost of labor
These days GBA and NYC are so much more expensive than other HCOL cities that there is essentially a VHCOL tier above HCOL composed of just GBA and NYC.
Born and raised here and shit is expansive. Studio apartment for 1600+. Everything is very expensive as well with our stupid liberal leadership taxing us for everything. Not as bad as SF or NYC, but it’s up there. Traffic is horrible.
Online I’m seeing that Seattle is 5th HCOL city in US at 57% above average. Which is more than Chicago, Miami, DC, etc.
Yes that is the problem in Seattle
Lol no
I thought Seattle was HCOL

It is HCOL but below NYC and GBA (I guess that means greater bay area?). It is above virtually everything else in the US though. What make it feel worse is similar to the Bay Area, it is difficult to geographically escape the cost of living - with tech companies in both Seattle as well as the Eastside, there are very few if any pockets of affordability.
Greater Bay Area aka San Francisco?
I recently looked it up and found some sites that give a general breakdown. You’d be surprised how many cities you think are HCOL but are only avg or 15% over average which is nothing compared to GBA and NYC.
Payscale.com not sure how precisely accurate it is but you can do extra research to confirm
I thought it would be HCOL as well but the salaries don't seem to reflect.
