Hi all,
I’m looking to relocate to Seattle. Does anyone know if any of the Big 4 are still recruiting campus hires to start in Summer/Fall 2023? I’m open to either Audit or Tax, but I have internship experience in Tax.
I applied and received an offer at a Big 4 in San Francisco (campus hire), but I’ve decided Seattle is the better fit for me as it will be closer to my hometown and family in Vancouver.
Thanks!

As someone who is looking to pivot into more finance roles from tax. It's been pretty tough even w/ a little under two years of experience. Probably b/c you'll be competing with people that have direct finance experience, of course, but I can't say it would be easier if you did audit or something less specialized.
In my experience, specializing in a niche area of tax is limiting... Especially the longer you stick around and more experience you get. I found it very difficult to pivot to a different role (was looking at FP&A) or even industry out of Big 4, which is where I ended up. The current job market is not great for changing career paths due to all the competition with other candidates. I only landed my new job about a year ago and had been looking for 2 years prior to that. Hopefully by the time you’re ready to move on, it’s a different story but if you know that’s where you want to end up, I’d focus on getting direct experience.
Nothing wrong with getting tax experience. If you are also interested in becoming a CPA it would be a good start to your career. What were you looking to do when you graduated? Do you have any tax experience? I did work as a volunteer preparing taxes when I attended college.
