I don’t have that experience to the same extent…in terms of work/training people; but the first part I relate to heavily. I have left jobs because I felt less valued once coworkers or supervisors knew about my queer identity…your anger is heard
Sorry to hear your frustration and anger OP. Sounds like you have been fighting the good fight for ages. Can your next role be less tough in that regard? A city/sector where LGBTQ are in the lead? (I sit on a metropolitan arts board where 5/8 are lgbtq). Be your own boss? It’s easier to get funding these days than a corporate promotion. Am sure you will succeed anywhere but some pastures are a bit greener
I am not a women and have no idea the specific struggles you have experienced; however as far as “coming out” at work, that is why I am open about my sexuality from the beginning. If it’s always known, it becomes less of a factor later on when people “find out.” Yes, this has made my tone at some positions shorter, but those were not places I would have excelled at anyway.
Being a gay woman is very difficult. I recently cut my hair into an immediately identifiable “lesbian” style. For the first time, the outside matches the inside. But it also shocked some people at work. Yet to be seen how or if it will impact my future promotions. Even today though, I still have people make jokes about gays in my presence. It’s exhausting. Flip side is I don’t want to be a “token” promote. Like oh here’s our token lesbian partner! Isn’t she so great because she’s our ✨DIVERSITY✨
Sorry to hear, but it sounds like you’ve been working for the wrong kinds of companies. Instead of looking for job openings by job title, do research on welcoming companies and search for openings by company.
