If we're being real, trying to juggle 15 cards and min-maxing every category is a pretty big waste of time for not much benefit. You will get 10x the return by just opening a few cards a year for the bonus. Get the bonus and move to the next card.
The key is to choose cards that offer strong rewards in different spending categories that align with your lifestyle like groceries, travel, dining, or gas and then rotate your spending accordingly. To keep track of cards, I use spreadsheets and points tracking apps to log card benefits, billing cycles, and bonuses. I also have the worst memory, so I set calendar reminders for when to activate category bonuses and when to pay each card off, so I don’t miss out on rewards or pay interest.
You really only “need” 2-3 credit cards (need being to optimize more spending… find a balance that covers whatever you spend 50% or more on each month. You can maximize groceries, travel, restaurants with 2 credit cards tbh)
