Hi everyone, new to the bowl here! Anybody have good experience jumping into the tech industry side as an analyst? I’m frequently getting told I have a profile that is too Senior for the Sr. Fin. Analyst roles to which I’ve been applying. I’m currently in higher Ed and could be doing the same work, with much better work culture, environment, and salary elsewhere. I’ve seen all of those in really exciting tech companies, but it appears they want a Sr. analyst that isn’t so Sr. 😂. Thnx!

How do you cope when you’re overwhelmed? I’ve been working until 11pm the past two weeks minus 1 day (bc it was my birthday) and I see no end in sight. We are short a few people (quit, parental leave, etc) and only have a few associates left in my group so I am getting everything from 6 partners when I am truly only responsible for 2. I know taking time for working out/etc is helpful but I don’t have the time because I need at least 7-8 hours of sleep or I can’t function. Sigh.

I’ve been asked to weigh in on how to improve my firms parental leave policy. It’s currently 8 weeks paid for birth parent with an extra week for each year at the firm (up to 12 weeks total) and 2 weeks paid for non-birth parent. I’m in a major city, firm is a boutique that has been around a very long time. What would you suggest? Any studies or research you’ve seen recently on trends in parental leave policies also helpful. I’d like to have some sort of data to back up what I recommend. TIA!

Planning to move back to our hometown before the baby is due which would make me about 6-7 months (move in April, due date is early July). Is it worth it to try and find a new job the last couple months of pregnancy or should I use that time to settle in to our new place before baby arrives? I just feel bad that my hubby will have to be the only provider for that long of a period. I am an RN.

I have an exit offer to a major PharmaCo, really excited about the offer and company in another state. The problem is that the start date is right when my wife is due with our first child. Normally nbd, but we just found out that my wife has developed a heart condition because of the pregnancy. OBGYN and Cardiologist both have said that it would be ultra high risk for to move before the baby comes and will be safe 1-2month after. Tips moving the start date without getting the offer pulled?
