Both are good to have considering what industry you are in
Autocad if you are going into MEP/HVAC or Solidworks for design. There is some cross over but not much.
Autocad still seems to be the go to for layout drawings and I see them frequently. Both skillsets are good to have.
For me, as a certified solidworks pro, it's been hard to find any drafter job because everyone uses AutoCAD. Now I have to work to get a AutoCAD cert so I can stop struggling getting a job.
Let's be clear AutoCad and Solidworks are both heavily sought out in the industry. Especially in factories that involve a rigorous production dynamic. As well as high speed packing areas. I'm an Engineering Maintenance Reliability Manager and I benefit from both especially when I have members of my team that don't have the skill set. Considering I know how to teach because at one point in my lengthy career I was an instructor. It's easier for me to find ways to get my team up to speed and have the company invest in them to send them to school.
It depends on what platform your company uses. The company I work for is primarily AutoCAD and Inventor. Both are autodesk products.

Aerospace and automotive uses either solidworks or CATIA. Most of the people we hire don’t have any certification. If a candidate specifies that he/she has certifications in Solidworks/CATIA, I will drill that candidate on their knowledge but that’s just me.
Automotive: CATIA
Generic product design: Solidworks, NX, or Creo
MEP/HVAC: Autocad
