Yes, they'd generally file paperwork to pick up the sponsorship for it.
Worst comes to worst, it would just be inactive, but it's such a trivial expense for most companies, I don't see why they'd let it lapse.
Why would you care? You can move past silly government things like security clearances while working for Google
I hear you. I guess my point is that outside of government contracting they’re useless. Sort of like the PMP certification. In some ways either of those can erode credibility in the private sector because they can seem to replace hard skills. Let’s be honest there are a lot of cleared govvies who effectively do butts-in-seats work.
I will say that if you combine your clearance with truly innovative work - think some of Palantir’s stuff - it could be worth a ton.
No, it would go inactive. Even if Google were to pick up the bill to keep it active, you need a sponsoring government agency - which you won’t get working internally.
