Comparison is the thief of all joy. Just work hard.
Totally disagree EY2. The comparison gives me data about what’s expected and how my peers perform. By comparing myself to the population I know where I’m weak and strong.
Now...comparing myself to individuals, at least for me, is when the insecurities start to pile up.
Born manager here
34. At 26, I was in a band.
30 (but I'm slow...in the head...and the bed!!)
Never compare yourself with others - achievement or otherwise. It will make contentment or life in general, harder 💛
36. Life is not a race...There’s only one thing at the finish line for all of us, so make sure you’re enjoying the journey .
Not sure why ppl liked my comment of 39 but let me tell you something. This question here is far from stupid, reason is im sure there are many people here like me, grow up from a lower middle class, in a third world country, no good education, corruption and cant even get a tourist visa to any country
Instead of accepting those facts ive learnt programming myself with no internet, had to carry shit to afford to buy a JavaScript book, no guidance or directions but got my first web developer job, accepted a shitty pay jobs in another country, went to school in UK for my software engineering degree, couldnt get student loan or money from parents so had to work my ass off to pay for it, beside visa problems and being middle eastern in a post 9/11 world
Finally i started to get decent pay at good companies at age of 34 then switched to consulting 3 years ago learning a whole lot more to make a manager and guess what? Im working on making a partner
So many made it at 26....wow. You go ladies!
This thread literally reminds me of a Indian movie where the dean of the university tells his students - Life is a race! If you won’t move ahead, someone else will trample you and will move ahead!
Now hug each other

84. Could’ve gotten there a few years earlier if it weren’t for the war...
33. I figure if I make partner at all then I’m successful. Who cares when? I’m slow to learn the needs of this job at each level and will be great full for all extra time
I think ey2 meant the same, but dint get into the details
I think I could barely tie my own shoelaces at 26. But I know I was having fun.
Never. Just quit and became a farmer. I’ll have food when the next recession hits or when ww3 breaks out.
Manager at Deloitte is essentially a SM everywhere else
