4-5 rounds of interviews has become the standard. Tests and take home assignments/assessments have become more normalized too. There are endless hoops to jump through nowadays before you actually get an offer. I hope it pays off for you and you receive one.

The hiring process has really gotten pretty lengthy, and some companies just turn it into something like a multi-episode reality show. My own theory is that it's a way to spread the decision making around, so no one is really responsible for making a decision. I sometimes wonder if the process serves to reward mediocre candidates, as they may not offend anyone and thus keep surviving the various rounds.
What do you mean about the mediocre candidates not offending someone? Most of the posts I see from people are about applying for hundreds of jobs and barely getting any interviews.
