Sorry, this is BS. MBB feedback culture (or management consulting feedback culture more broadly) works alongside up-or-out policies.
It is HYPER-focused on your deficits, because guess what? Your ability to fix your "gaps" are what make/break if you get to stay or as asked to leave. Forget about your strengths--everyone has plenty of them at these firms and no one cares.
Feedback culture in general is great, but there has to be a balance for it to really work well.
Of course, the galaxy-brain approach to this is to malinger in areas you know you can rapidly improve in such as to be able to confidently show progress to career development leads.
Yes we have strengths based feedback but that doesn’t mean we ignore weak development areas lol. If you’re not at the level you need to be for any required skill area, you’ll hear about it for sure.
Was not true for me haha. Lots of developmental feedback to bring weaknesses up to an acceptable performance level

We definitely emphasize strengths based feedback!! that being said, there is of course a certain bar you have to meet on various consulting skills so you will of course be told if you’re lagging there…
