It seems like police are less respected now than ever before. Most of us are dedicated to protecting and serving, so I have to believe that things will get better.

I hope things will turn around for law enforcement. I hate that we have such a bad rep. We are not all bad!

We are humans, after all. But some cops believe that just because they have this job, they are better or deserve more respect than everyone else. It really breeds a stereotype that doesn't represent everyone in the group.

I'm not too hopeful, unfortunately. Bad cops have made it so hard for good cops to exist. Now everyone is paying the price.

The profession is respectable, but there are so many a-holes in the military or police who think they are superior to or deserve more respect than everyone else simply because they hold those positions. Really, all it accomplishes is produce a crude stereotypical image of the group as a whole, when not everyone is like that.

To be honest, not all police deserve respect. Everyone should commend and promote good police, while dealing with the bad ones as needed, including firing them and barring them from joining another force or, in the worst cases, charging them with major crimes.

I value this post as a law enforcer more than you can imagine. It has been difficult to put on the uniform since the drama began years ago. Just to be recorder while being poked and prodded. I simply always wanted to wear a uniform and be a decent person, but it's hard to be content because of the poor choices made by both citizens and other police.

Police deserve as much respect as they are willing give to the average citizen. They do deal with a lot of terrible situations on a weekly basis, and I agree that they ought to be paid more, but they voluntarily went down that road.

This greatly varies from person to person. I've read some wonderful and heartfelt things about the police, but I've also read some shocking and absurd stuff. Whether or not they deserve respect is completely relative.

I know. And it is disheartening sometimes. But we all know that not all officers deserve respect.

A lot of officers out there are not doing their jobs properly. One bad move and the entire profession will suffer. It's always been like that.

Agreed 💯

It will get worse… much much worse. Social media will only further divide the nation

How have you combated your fear of rejection? I fixate on such small things as when my friends, for example, reject plans I have made. This definitely makes me more averse to putting myself out there and makes me ruminate on past perceived failures, which are clearly not good for personal growth

Any insight on Brewer (either office, generally curious about the firm). I assume comp after year 1 is discretionary, rather than lock-step, given the size of the firm. Would appreciate happiness, horror stories, of whatever “firm culture” falls between the two. DM me if you don’t want to share publicly.
