It's a tough market as is, but you'd think working with a recruiter would make it a little easier, however that doesn't seem to be the case.

We rely on them to present our information properly and when they don't and that's the reason why you're passed up for a position, it's just another kick to the gut.

Side note, don't conduct an interview if you're driving in your car and you're unable to give your full attention to them and/or take notes. It's highly unprofessional and unsafe. #TrueStory

I like to add that within Tech, it's very common for job durations to last six months to a year on contract and it shouldn't be flagged as a negative. I've been reading a lot of post where recruiters are doing this and that also makes me wonder if their AI solutions are going about this wrong as well.

This wasn't a temp or contract job though. It was for a permanent Director of CS and Support role and I was told they were passing because I didn't have a technical background, yet this has been what I've been doing for 20 years now as a Director and previous TAM and L3 Escalation Engineer.

That's what led me to question how they presented me when I was told I was a "shoe in" to proceed forward during my call. The recruiter ended the call telling me she wished we could talk more, but she just pulled into the parking lot for another appointment and needed to let me go. There's no way she was able to do her job to capture all of my information properly while driving which was my main concern.

This is so true. Iv asked about why I got denials for positions and it was because recruiter missed key information when talking and taking notes.

I’ve been interviewing for new positions to leave PA. But in my current position, we’ve been adding quite a few new projects (and our team is partner, two staff, and me) that will probably start over the next couple of months. I don’t think my boss has any idea I’m looking to leave - anything I should do to not feel guilty about potentially leaving them short staffed with a ton of work? Is this something you think about when looking to leave?

If you're looking for inspirational films about addiction I highly recommend The Resurrection of Jake the Snake Roberts. It's a documentary about the wrestler who had about as bad an addiction problem as you can imagine. It goes through his problems, despair, but also shows his road to recovery through platonic love, support, and he finds redemption. It's great for anyone like me that tried and failed to get sober for years. I have over a year now for the first time.

HNY all! I have multiple rollover and traditional IRAs, as well as a solo 401k. But (since I started paying attention to this kind of thing) have always been over the income limit to start a Roth IRA. I’ve also not done much contributing in the last few years due to purchasing an apartment and saving for renovations. Cue pandemic joblessness... if married filing separately, would you say it’s a good idea to start a Roth while under the income limit, even in this climate? Any reason not to?
