Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

How would I get in touch with you regarding a open role elsewhere?
Great, I just sent you message.
I’m sorry to hear that and I hope it gets better for you. You are definitely not alone, but don’t let that diminish your own feelings. I am starting to feel hopeless as well after my layoff. Having trouble landing freelance and seeing people get hired at my level at the same places I’m trying to get into just makes it worse. Happy to chat about things if you think that would help, feel free to DM me. We will get through this and be better for it in time.
I can SO IDENTIFY with this feeling. It’s tough when you keep getting no response or “we aren’t hiring right now” but then seeing others hired. I feel you. Thank you for this. It helps!

Feel ya. And I been there. Totally sucks. My advice? Get offline more often. Do productive stuff that makes you feel good. Maybe that’s going for a run? Maybe that’s doing laundry? Try to limit your job hunting to times when you can focus. Also know that it’s just a numbers game. People are terrible. But someday a person won’t be and then you’ll have a job. Keep at it. Take regular breaks. Know that you are in no way alone.
