It's been a week and a half since I spilled coffee down the front of my blouse during an interview and I'm still just so embarrassed. I want to reach out to the person I was interviewing with, but I have no clue what I would say. Should I just accept that I blew this opportunity?

Maybe you didn’t.

If you recovered your composure well and did well in the rest of the interview, there’s hope. Most reasonable people understand that mistakes happen. They don’t expect you to be perfect, but they do expect you to be good at saving the situation.

Unless you have something humorous or clever to say about what happened, that will make you stand out as a confident candidate, better not to reach out. Let it go.

You’re not alone. I’ll never forget the time I was introduced to the department director and when I reached out to shake her hand my half slip fell down around my ankles.

Does anyone have advice about interviewing somewhere with bad Yelp/google reviews? Is it OK to ask about it in an interview? Does any law office, for the most part, have “good” reviews, especially family law? The reviews I read on lots of law office pages are usually people who are accusing the firm of over-billing, not doing enough work or losing/obtaining an unfavorable outcome. How much attention should one pay to this when looking for a new firm at which to work?

I've done so well in this new role within the company that they are hiring another person to assist with what I do. I've voiced to my boss that I'd like to manage this department and they indicated that this is the thought for the future. Now they are asking me to train this person while I have my plate full. Is it wrong for me to expect either a promotion or to be paid to train this person?
