As an ADC applying this summer for 2022 start, I haven’t gotten a chance to connect with any L.E.K. Consulting members and I really want to get to know the company better before moving on with my application. Any L.E.K. Consulting fish out there willing to spare a few minutes to chat about their work, the company, the culture etc? Thanks!

Time in the market is always better than timing the market. Personally I'm taking this opportunity to add more and lower my cost basis.
Very true. Still, it’s easy to be greedy. When you see 30% of your portfolio vastly outperform the other 70% there’s always the temptation to shift more and more over.
Ebola. SARS. H1N1. Swine flu.
I’ve seen em all.
Selling at the bottom is ALWAYS a mistake!
Life is full of curveballs, always hold
Be greedy when others are fearful, and fearful when others are greedy.
Warren Buffett. I still have a few thousand in cash in my trading account. Waiting.
Anyone seeing projects getting put on “hold?” This could hit advertising really soon.
We had a global meeting scheduled in Paris in two weeks postponed til June. It’s a blessing.
Market was hot and needed a correction. This is the excuse it needed for people to take money off the table and lock in earlier gains. Challenge being there’s really no good place to put it. Bonds, bank accounts, money market get nibbled away by inflation. So at some point, the money will need to come back in. U.S. company equities will still look great because international and everything else looks worse.
I’m dollar cost averaging and buying little bits of this dip every day and will continue to do so for however long and low this goes.
Betting against the end of the world is always a sure strategy. If it doesn’t end it works out well. If it does end, it doesn’t matter anyway.
If I were closer to retirement, I’d feel differently. But I’ve got a long time horizon to enjoy a recovery.
BITCOIN BITCOIN BITCOIN
HODL
Anyone who bails on the market now, or thinks they can time the market in general like some posters here, is a fool.
Don’t sell, look to buy quality stuff at good prices on the down swing. When you sell, you miss out on the recovery and will hesitate to jump back in. This too will pass...
Yes and lose money - never sell w the bottom unless it’s something that won’t recover
I’m bearish, I shifted a lot of my portfolio out of equities and into cash at the end of last year, waiting for some corrections and further dips so I can start buying stocks again
I have money in a Vanguard S&P 500 ETF which did great last year. I also have a long term investment horizon so I know whatever happens, the market will recover; I was more referring to investing in pure equities and increasing my portfolios exposure back to 80-90% equities. Currently it’s far more balanced.
I met with my finance dude yesterday who said to hold and actually moved cash into something. Reading this makes me feel like that’s a bad move but who to trust? I’m in advertising and he’s in finance. I’m not being an a**hole, I just don’t know. I have stock options thru my company and he told me to hold those too, as I buy them with a discount. Ahhhhh!!! I lived through one recession and came out with my 401k, I can get through another one. I hope
Yeah unless this is the new great depression you can hold that money in the market, it’ll recover in 2 years after the recession is over and you’ll be fine. People who sell once the recession has already hit get screwed.
That being said, make sure you have a chunk of cash in savings if you need it.
Do the opposite man. If you don’t need the money now, keep because history shows that it’ll always bounce back. Always. If anything start investing more.
Selling low is a great strategy.
You have to remember that the headline writers don't know statistics. "The biggest drop since 2008" means far less when you realize that in 2008 that drop represented a much higher percentage of the total market, and today's market is much bigger, so the same point drop represents a far, far smaller correction today than in 2008.
So as a person who is over 40, does not have a “financial dude” and is really not educated about this stuff, what should I do with my 401k?
Chiming in, as others are saying, do not touch your 401k right now. When things get better, move it to a "target date" fund, designed to give you the best return for your projected retirement date. And then forget about it again. Or, as I do, look at it once a year and enjoy the feeling of growing money.
401k. Do nothing. Keep maxing it out. With every paycheck you’re dollar cost averaging in the market. Can’t touch that money again until you’re a minimum of 59 1/2 years old. Even at 40 you’ve got a long time to go.
Duuuude, just be patient
FYI - I cashed out all my accounts a month ago. The P/E ratios right now are insane, housing prices are soaring but home buying has slowed, consumer spending is declining, debt is rising (especially non-dischargable debt), etc...
I’m getting flashbacks of 2008 here. We’re headed for a recession at the least.
Warren Buffet said that he made money by buying when everyone else was scared and selling when everyone else was greedy.

How’s everyone feeling now? Any of the long-positions change their mind?
We just bagged a one year supply of Charmin at Costco...
Selling a month ago might have made sense, now you just got to ride it out - you have to have a 10 year view on, not a day to day. This won’t be the first or last disaster... We almost went to war with Iran a month or two ago! And it’s only March....
