I’ve applied to over 40 jobs here and another 30 on indeed without getting a single interview. I even paid $200 to have my resume professionally updated and still heard nothing. I have over 15 years of experience as a server and went into more than 20 restaurants in person.

The only reason I got a job was through a buddy at a restaurant 10 minutes from my house where I’d worked before. It’s not my favorite, but I know the POS and menu. This job market is brutal. Has anyone else experienced this

Just about everyone I know talks about how awful this job market is. It's like no one wants to hire as they can't figure out what the economy is going to do next. It's frustrating all around. The best strategy is what worked for you, doing some networking and finding something through word of mouth.

I’m in the same boat. Been looking for a job since last June. It’s either no call back, I didn’t fit their schedule, or pay was too little. I have two kids that I share custody and I need a set schedule. I’m willing to work and fit into their schedules but they want hard physical labor with little pay and work ungodly hours! I’m not trying to work all these hours and never see my family! These companies are surreal! Good luck out there!

like

Same. 20 years experience and nothing. Unless it’s super far from downtown

Over qualified like me. Over 15 years experience as a server get questions like are you sure you would feel comfortable working with people that are younger than you? Responses saying we appreciate your interest, but have decided to go with someone who aligns more with our values. I'm 55 and I'm struggling here!

like

The economy is not booming so not everyone is hiring

Well you doing something wrong I get almost 5-6 calls and emails a week to the point where I have to cancel some jobs I got 3 now I gotta quit one I’m only one person 2 pay 18$ a hour 1 at 14.50 but great benefits day 1

Look at you top dog! If you can live on 14.50 a hour or even 18 dollars an hour we’re not on the same page.

What city are you in I know to stay far away from

😂

Same here everything is very slow

I noticed that 2 little bit of money and you work 2 people's jobs

I have been applying since April with a decade of experience, and have had tons of personal references with no bites. I have had plenty of interviews as well where managers seemed eager to hire and get me into training asap and was completely ghosted with no explanation when asked, which is just unprofessional in my opinion. I definitely know my value as an employee and have experience in management so it makes no sense to me. I get the market is bad but don’t list a job posting if you don’t have shift availability.

How do I politely decline a job offer without burning a bridge?
Background: I’ve been overwhelmed in my current company/position. Found this position in another company but the position is to help to “build” the supply chain processes for the company. So while I think the company is alright and the people seem fine, I feel the “building” process will require more time and commitment I’m able to provide. I’ve voiced that during interviews and they all said “things would be fine”. MORE BELOW

Rejected by HBS and GSB post interview... feeling pretty low. Was hoping I'd get one after interviewing. Not sure what I could have done differently. 750 GMAT, >3.8 GPA from top 10 UG, multiple promotions, strong recs, well-known employer. The process feels so random... I know there are so many qualified candidates and so few spots but I wish they had seen it in me.

If I submit resignation now, It ll be 8 + 3 months(NP).Total of 11 months & 7 days.

1.) Can I show it as 1 Year in my profile?

2.) Is it worth making this offer, having agitation due to 90 days NP may get less calls in future.

A defendant generally is liable for all harmful results that are the normal incidents of and within the increased risk caused by their negligent acts. If a defendant's negligence was a substantial factor in producing the plaintiff's injuries, the element of proximate cause has been satisfied and the defendant would not be relieved from liability for those injuries even though another force concurred..

So I work as an assistant manager at a restaurant for the past 9 months. I've worked in restaurants for the past 6 years science I was 16. Now I'm 22. I went to a trade school for media and film. I got a dream opportunity to work in the field making about the same or 10% more. I told myself the only reason I'd leave this company is for this type of job. Should I take the chance at this job and leave the restaurant that is on the rise and growing?

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.
