Why not spin out on your own ?
If you lack passion, don’t like it and do not care about the things (I am assuming you mean the actual job/role and not the people you are hiring) then you should try to leverage your transferable skills and parlay that into a new career path. It is not easy but never to late to do something you love. Life is too short to be unhappy.
Agreed! If you don't love what you do, consider changing professions. The days will seem so long and dreadful if you spend it doing something you don't like.
I’ve always found joining a company with the right culture and leadership goes a long way to inspire passion. Try reaching out to leaders who have inspired you most along your journey to see where they are now.
Most of those leaders are on drugs. Just saying. 🤷
Have you given any thought to what you might enjoy more? Is there anything else you can imagine doing that would make you feel happier to get to work in the morning? If it's just an overall blah feeling, it could be burnout or depression. But if it's just the job, then I agree with everyone above...it's your body's way of telling you it's time to move on.
I experienced something similar during the pandemic. I realized I was burnt out, and the company I worked for didn't care about me. I ended up changing jobs and industries, and it helped me! Always be open to new challenges.
I agree with the comments here. A burnout is distunguishable from not caring about your job anymore, more so lack of passion. I personally would try looking into a career change once I don't feel passionate about my job anymore. It's still not too late. Start by asking yourself what you are most passionate about.
What are the other things that you think will excite you? How about switching industries? You've been in this industry for so long. It's time for you to do things that will make you happy.
This happens to me every so often. Any role gets tedious after a while. Take some time off and see if you come back feeling refreshed. If not, maybe consider a career or company change.
Thanks everyone! For context.. I am in the process of transitioning roles. I love strategy/change management and have been able to adopt those methodologies within my work. However, it can only go but so far. Nonetheless, I am looking for a way out of recruiting and I’m also looking to take some time off. It’s been such a busy few years! I really appreciate everyone’s feedback!
What keeps me going is the fact that this job pays for my families needs. Maybe the burn-out or the cycle is just getting to you at this point in your career. You might be needing a fresh start
I think that's totally reasonable. There's two options, take a sabbatical/extended time off period and see how you feel...if it's burnout, you'll need time to recover. You could also try another field and see if that's better? Or like above have suggested, you could strike out on your own and start your business but it might be difficult without established connections/network
Are you an individual contributor or do you manage a team? (or maybe you are doing both, recruitment hands on and leading a team)
I wonder, is it because you don't have freedom and ability to use creativity? I work at a start up recruiting form as a contractor and we have so much freedom of how we can recruit which makes it more enjoyable.
