I’ve been applying to a mix of startups and larger tech companies and honestly the interview experiences feel completely different. Smaller companies seem way faster but also more chaotic. Curious whether people think startups are better for breaking into tech or if bigger companies are worth waiting for.

Just got lowballed somewhat hard. I have around 2yoe and had resigned last month, i cleared all interviews of one company and the hr actually have me a number less tha my current base, all bonus would be dropped. While i understand that some money is better than no money, what possible options do i have?

Currently interviewing with EY NZ as a risk management consultant. 1.5 yoe and expat from US. I have a rough idea for cost of living, so what should my minimum salary expectation be in Auckland? Finally landed a Product Manager interview. It's taken 30+ applications to get one. Generally, what should I expect? (In terms of questions). This interview is with 2 senior managers. I got passed the initial recruiter screening.

Coming out of UG, I accepted my first job b/c I thought I had to based on status of other interviews. I ended up quitting after 8 weeks in favor of an opportunity I perceived to be better, but took longer to get. 7 months into the new gig, I am NOT happy. Considering this is technically my second job out of school, how long should I stick around before trying to leave without looking like a total scumbag opportunist?

6 months pregnant and just laid off. And 40% of my severance was just taken in taxes .. I just spoke with paid family leave and I no longer qualify even though I had been paying into the program (thanks NY).. I already applied for unemployment but doctors are telling me I’ve got 10-14 weeks left in this pregnancy.. so stressed having twins and being unemployed, no maternity leave, no paychecks coming in, and I’ve been applying but not a single interview.. just ugh. 😭

l interviewed for Deloitte (India not USI) in January, and accepted an offer letter with DOJ of 25th April, later HR asked me to join on 11th April for which I agreed. Now I haven't received the revised offer letter or any links other than BGV and Pre-Hire form from Deloitte and now the HR is not even picking my calls or responding to emails.

Any advice on what to do?

I was recently interviewing a very good candidate who was not only technically strong but also had a very good problem solving skill. Below is his yoe and tech stack
Total yoe 11, RPA 6(AA)
Certified in all AA versions.
CCTC 25LPA
Expecting 40LPA
I felt this is a desirable ask but we didn't have enough budget to accomodate. Now we are going back to drawing board to reshuffle the budget for next FY, what would be an apt scale for someone with the profile above?

For anyone who is burnt out and looking to leave big law and go to a midsize, do your research. I was one of those people and I can tell you the grass is NOT greener on the other side. It’s a myth. In retrospect, I should’ve stayed and set better boundaries and not have taken this 35% pay cut.

Career advice?

I'm a relatively junior data engineer (2yoe), the only other engineer (senior) that trained me left about a 6 months ago and I negotiated a nice raise for the extra responsibilities.

My performance reviews have been stellar, but my manager is starting to look to hire a senior to help me deliver projects as we do lack capacity right now.

I feel like I might be missing an opportunity to ask for a promotion and hire a junior instead.

How does contract to hire work? If I’m offered $37/hr on w2 for 3 months and then possibly a permanent position, how much can I expect to get annually as a full time company employee as a BI data analyst II? I have a M.S. and certificates in DA but this will be my first job as DA.
I prefer working for what is offered on contract without negotiating, and then negotiate when I transition into the company itself so I have a better chance of getting the contract position and show my skills.
