I recently applied to graduate school for a Master’s at my old undergraduate college and a prestigious name-brand school. I kind of find it hilarious that the name brand-school accepted me while my old college rejected me. I didn’t have the most stellar grades and I had a lot of help in my essays but regardless I still found it funny at the end I would be attending the name-brand school and my old college rejected me.

A lot of masters programs are cash cows for universities. Usually pretty easy to do a MS or MA at a name brand uni even with an avg GPA from any old undergrad.

1. They know you're not coming back 2. Most schools want you to go out and get different experiences so that you have diversity of thought. I wouldn't assume it's because of your grades or struggle

Is it possible to get into HSW? Thinking down the line of applying - went to Princeton for UG and currently working in IBD for a not too well known investment bank. 750 GMAT 3.8 UG GPA.

Worried I just won’t get a look or judged too hard if I’m not coming from a top tier banking firm (messed up my summer internship and it’s haunted me since) - how much does that matter of prestige of bank vs the industry you’re working in and what’s the best advice in being able to go to HSW?

So I’m planning on leaving my position before school starts, but the application and interview process has been slow. At this point I’m afraid I won’t find a job until late July. Should I let my school now and let them post my job as an anticipated position? I’d hate for them to have to find someone last minute, but I also want to keep that school as a fall back just in case. Unfortunately, it’s a terrible position and there has not been a lot of interest in it in the past.

I’m seriously contemplating taking a software development boot camp. For those who hire new software developers, does it make you stand out if you get your certificate from a university instead of a coding academy (like coding dojo or something)? I noticed the universities are a bit more expensive but is it worth the price to have a university on your resume or does it not really matter?

I'm looking to gain as much experience as possible out of college in an IT role and wondering what exit opportunities may be in place a year or two down the road if there is little/slow progression.

Will Amex restricting guess access for Centurion Lounge actually make any difference?

I can see short term changes but the way Amex has been aggressively marketing Platinum card, we just will have overcrowding of primary card holders 🤷🏻‍♂️

What's next, everyone has to spend min. 50k a year to get Centurion lounge access or pay per visit.

Additional Posts in Confession

Been friends with a girl for years (I’m a M). We recently have been getting closer and chatting a lot more. I told her I’m starting to develop feelings for her and that I want us to try dating. She said she’s going through a messy breakup now (wasn’t a clear yes or a no response). Do I continue to get closer to her as friends after that conversation or is it better to give us both space?

Been with my GF since college and we recently hit the 4 year mark. 1-2 years into our relationship I found out she had instances of micro-cheating (flirting with guys, talking to ex’s etc - but nothing physical) and we addressed it. To her credit and my knowledge, she’s been apologetic and great at respecting boundaries since, but I still feel the pain from her actions years ago (and have talked to her about it). Feeling lost about whether to just leave or to try and work things out
