I’ve been informed I’m being laid off due to a post acquisition synergy and after the initial shock wore off I’ve never felt more free in my entire career. I’ve come to realize I actually think I hate working in corporate and I’d like to use this opportunity to try something legal-adjacent. Anyone have any solid ideas for slight career pivots? Maybe something JD preferred? Know it is a tough market so any advice helps. TIA.

Claims examiner at an insurance company handling D&O and/or EPLI matters. Not sure that this is any less “corporate,” but it is a legal-adjacent job that pays decently. I have several former law school classmates who choose this path as a means of achieving better WLB. I believe that they’ve been happy with their choice.
