Hi there! Interviewing w/Amazon for a non-tech role (Associate Category Manager aka Associate Buyer) and was asked what my salary requirements are for base+bonus+equity. Can anyone share insight on what Amazonians make in this role. I have 4 YOE and glassdoor is not very helpful.
Any feedback is appreciated 🙏 Amazon

The very first point I made in my article here is to never, for the love of God, rely on "average reported salary", as there are an infinite number of variables at play, on top of having no oversight when posted. Glassdoor has been my go-to for a while now. It's mostly been in line with the numbers I've heard during interviews and seen while scrolling job boards. Nothing is 100%, but that (+ a little AI querying) gives me a good idea of what I should be targeting.
I use Robert half predominantly because you can search by title, usually seniority and also by location. It give the range, percentiles and a nice chart. Also suggest comp for similar roles.
Pay scale is another resource that is helpful for benchmarking. But each so is different. I tend to say come in at a higher number and work back. It’s disappointing to be realistic, and then negotiate back from that.
Don’t be outlandish - but be a bit bold in asking for more than you think you’re worth. You always need to advocate for yourself.
There really is no such thing as an accurate salary tool that I have found. There are so many things that factor into salary. I always check Glassdoor to see if I can get a baseline there.
