I've been working in a manufacturing start-up for the last 6 years and currently the Plant General Manager. I've worn a lot of hats within operations here including inventory management, onboarding new suppliers, logistics, importing, and purchasing. I would like to leverage my experience to get into Supply Chain management. What are the skills and experience I should show and discuss in interviews to make the pivot? Also, in your experience, is this something I could do and work from Asia?

In order to make the pivot into Supply Chain Management, you should discuss your operations experience and how it has prepared you for the role. You should highlight your skills in inventory management, logistics, importing, and purchasing. Additionally, if you have experience working with suppliers or in Asia, this would be a great asset to discuss in interviews. Supply Chain Management is a global field and having experience working in different regions can be advantageous.

Great, will do. I do have experience with working with suppliers in Asia and speak Chinese as well. Are there any hard skills I need to learn too? Any software?

Your experience in inventory management, supplier onboarding, logistics, and purchasing are all relevant experience that you can discuss in an interview. You should also highlight your ability to think strategically and manage projects effectively. In terms of moving into a Supply Chain management role from a manufacturing environment, Asia is definitely an option. There are many companies in Asia that are looking for experienced professionals to manage their supply chains.

Hey guys,

I have an interview at Microsoft next week for the role of SharePoint consultant. What should my preparation be like?

Hi! I have a quick question and could use some advice:

I have 1 job offer that is an hour away and pays 45k, after negotiations (Research Associate Position at a University) .

I have just interviewed for a position closer to home and a base salary of 65k, but haven’t heard back from them in about 2 days (He said he would make a decision by yesterday and I’ve reached out).
I have to decide on the first offer by Thursday but I haven’t heard back from the second yet. Thoughts on next move?
