Don't get an MBA at 1 year of work experience. Typical MBAs have 3+ years. For chicago booth, I think the average is 5 if I recall correctly from orientation. A lot of post MBA jobs expect 3 years of experience, so at one year, you will not be competitive for most jobs.
Also, an MBA is often used for pivoting or networking. Since you want to stay in consulting the former doesn't apply.
A masters is an ok option, but I'd stick with working for now
What value do MBA’s actually add other than access to that university’s network? I feel like in an MS you actually gain practical skills.
MBA is literally a separate hiring track at Big4. Their starting pay is significantly higher than Bachelors/Masters, almost double in some cases. MA/MS is considered on the same level as undergrad and does not receive additional compensation (except at Deloitte, from what I’ve heard).
MBA for sure just make sure to not get a low-ranked MBA…also it will help you pivot to management level and executive level

what are you consulting in?
As someone who just finished up my MBA in a 4+1 program, I would say it’s more set up for people who want to transition from a non-business career/background to a consulting career. MBA was more of a general overview of business along with teaching you a few fundamental softwares that are utilized in most businesses today like sql. Maybe the second year would go more in depth, but most of the classes were case based learning and application.
Got an engineering undergraduate and already had a good fundamental understanding of business principles, so I didn’t get a ton from it.
