Have a kid
Get up and get in the shower when the alarm goes off
maybe do a hybrid schedule? 2-3x in office per week sounds like a good balance to me and you get the best of both worlds. this may sound stupid, but also planning a really nice outfit the day before will make you more excited to go to work
Be active/go workout in morning, sets the tone for your whole day
I knew a guy who left his laptop in the office. Prob not cybersecurity best practice but it worked.
Ive done this before and it works haha. It’s also nice to help create the work / home separation
Consider changing jobs where it is mandated. Some people need structure to force good work ethics.
Who said my work ethic is an issue?
It's so easy to slip back into that routine because you've been used to working from home for years. If you were required to have a hybrid schedule you would drag yourself out of bed, but you'll be glad you did because you have a balance. I too worked from home since the pandemic and had a hybrid job. I got laid off and now I'm required to go in office everyday. It's a struggle and I miss working from home. Just try to find a good balance even if it's going in office one day out of the week. Tell others in the office your schedule of coming in office, therefore you know others are expecting you to be there and I'm sure you'll want to keep your word.
Motivation is fleeting. You need to slowly develop the discipline and habit
Yeah the discipline and habit I have is roll out of bed between 4 and 5AM, start working and don’t stop until 5 or 6PM.
Plan a lunch with someone else in the office close to the office at least once a week to build up a presence and eventually make it easier to come in more often. Having a plan with someone else helps create structure and as you keep to it, it gets easier to do it yourself without the accountability to someone else.
No, seriously, get a routine. And to do that know your WHY. Sounds trite. I know. Sorry. But, the other part is how are you really giving back to others in a meaningful way - relationships - by working from home.
And thanks, because I considered not going in since I have a lunch to attend in the opposite direction of the office and a happy hour in a completely different part of town.
But, presence matters in physical form and mental.
IF you need that scenery change and interaction, shouldn't that be your motivation for yourself to go in?
IF you don't want to go in everyday, then get into the routine of a hybrid schedule where you are in the office a certain number of days, and at home the other days.
I had a similar problem with exercising and I read the book Atomic Habits by James Clear and it helped.
Motivate yourself? Are you not part of a team? Do you not get a paycheck because of your actions in the company's success? Working remotely accomplishes ones own selfish goals. Being part of your team is how leaders help future leaders grow and how leaders accumulate generational wealth. Working remotely simply pays your bills. How's that for motivation?
I’m already very high up in the hierarchy.
5 AM Club
That’s when I power up every day!
Wake up an hour earlier and go for a 30-45 min walk before work
Already get up and start working at 5 AM every day. I don’t think I can do 4 AM
