Hey everyone - I could do with some advice. Not sure what I am doing wrong, but I am having a hard time getting interview calls. I am trying to pivot from consulting to the industry and targeting project/program management roles. I have been doing this work for 7+ years now (total YOE 12 years) so certainly have the right skillset. I have tried a couple of referrals too but that didn’t help either. I feel burnt out by how ruthless the tech industry in US is, but I also know I’m making much more money than people outside of tech or consulting.

Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? Just saw this quote from the Minari movie ads and it kinda reminded me of being in BigLaw:

Someone on LinkedIn expressed disappointment about the lack of diversity from the big law firms in TX that were posting pics of their summer associates. A managing partner commented that he thought the post might be about a pic he posted (12/14 SAs were white). He tried to defend this by saying that they had LGBT and socioeconomic diversity. The fact that he recognized that his pic might be part of the problem says it all. Law firms need to do better. Sorry, I just wanted to rant.

Anyone feel like your job sees you as "one of the good ones?" It hasn't explicitly been said, but I'm one of the only Black attorneys at the firm and I think my white colleagues and partners see me as an example of how Black folks "should be" cause I mind my business. Basically I feel like a token, and I don't know how to shift that idea while staying professional.
