Plaintiff partner is suing defendant partner. Defendant partner wants to buy out plaintiff. The partnership would remain alive, just without plaintiff partner. Wondering if settlement origin of the claim doctrine would impact whether it classifies as a deductible expense or could be a nondeductible capital outlay

Has anyone made the jump from the tax group of an AmLaw 100 firm to a Big 4 tax group? I have questions.

Anyone have any thoughts on a fair salary for a part time virtual tax prep-focused position? I’ve been made an offer for south of 800 hours/year (fluctuating for seasonal ebb and flow, of course), and I’m curious whether it’s a decent offer or not. I have 13 years of experience in a big box franchise where I’ve handled complex returns from day 1. 30% of my workload has been 1120/1120S/1065 and the rest higher-level 1040s and a few 1041s & 990s. I’ll be bringing 75-100 clients with me.

Any insight on whether IRS Chief Counsel is open to (or considering being open to) remote attorneys? I’ve seen SEC and other agencies willing to hire fully remote lawyers.

Hi all! I’m applying to NYU tax llm and I’m pretty confident I can get in,but it’s unlikely I’ll receive a scholarship. I’m working at a non big4 consulting firm for about 1.5yrs now, doing mainly international with some M&A exposure. I want to do llm because I still want to shoot for biglaw.
