I've had anxiety jobs about a magazine I haven't worked at in years. I'll dream that I'm close to deadline, or I'm missing phone calls, or the phones in the office just never stop ringing, and on and on. That job was intense, and I've gotten to where I don't think of it that much. But I can't stop it from popping up in my dreams.
That kind of stress really lingers. I’ve had “forgot to file the piece” dreams long after leaving roles too.
Not often. Once in a while, I’ll be overextended at work, and it bleeds over into sleep. I’d probably have to start sending invoices to my company if it happened too much. I don’t work for free 😂
invoices for dream work! I’ve definitely woken up mid-sentence thinking I was on a call. If dreams counted toward overtime, I’d be rich.
In high school, I had homework anxiety dreams. In college, I had midterm and exam anxiety dreams. Now I have work deadline anxiety dreams. I think I'm the problem 😆
You’re definitely not alone! My anxiety just changes costume depending on the stage of life I’m in. If it’s not deadlines, it’s inboxes. Maybe we’re just high-functioning stress recyclers? 😅
Absolutely! I've rewritten entire reports in my dreams—sometimes better than when I’m awake. It’s wild how work can follow you into your sleep like an uninvited guest. Anyone else wake up mid-dream thinking they forgot to hit “Send”?
I’ve drafted emails in my sleep and genuinely thought I sent them.
I used to get this more often but I’ve been making more effort to really leave my work at work recently
