I'm still in, I've always worked part-time while I was in the military little jobs here and there. Sometimes its been small easy things like door dash or a part time job at a grocery store, other times its been slightly more intense like EMT at an ER during the night or a night Manager at Lowes. I used to never really have a hard time getting the jobs or balancing them with the Army because employers always understood my real obligation. Something shifted after 2022. Work is harder to come by even small low pay jobs, employers don't seem to have the same priorities to keep workers or negotiate any of the terms of employment. My situation might be a little more unique but even for a part-timer like me with really vast berth of experience I can't seem to pin something down.

Hello, and thank you sincerely for your service. I completely understand how exhausting the job search can be after military service.
After serving 22 years, I participated in a SkillBridge program through DAV RecruitMilitary. During my internship, I gained a clearer understanding of how valuable our military experience is in the civilian job market. Unfortunately, TAP doesn’t do a great job of preparing us for that transition or explaining how to navigate the process effectively.
DAV RecruitMilitary helped me recognize my value in the private sector and supported me in securing a position that aligns well with my skills and long-term growth. They also helped me evaluate several strong offers throughout my job search.
I highly recommend checking them out and taking advantage of their career coaching partners. Their support made a huge difference in my transition.
wow! that's the standard gentleman
It is hard everywhere. I am in San Antonio TX and its been 3 almost 4 months out of the Marine Corps and i doing independent contractor due to how hard it is. Was in for 9 years. The world has changed a lot.
I most definitely agree. There is not many jobs around here that are good. Most of them require schooling and if it’s a job that I don’t know if i want to do, why am I gonna waste my time on school? I’d rather have training on the job. Or when they know it’s a fit have me go to school afterwards. I’m now looking for an apprenticeship for electrician entry level. In the Sacramento to Chico area let me know if you guys find anything. 509-310-8183
what does your resume look like? did you do it yourself? also what industries are in your area and what does the projected job growth look like? might be worth moving somewhere where there is good job growth and demand.
It is not you. I retired after 23+ years on 1 March and have still not landed a decent job. I have had some great interviews that didn't materialize into offers. I have received valuable and honest feedback from reliable, professional sources on my resume and interview skills. I've been told that nothing needs to change, but somehow I can't cross the finish line. I am changing career paths altogether after switching from Air Force Weather to trying to get into Business Analytics which I admit makes it challenging. But I have even been turned down for Operations Manager roles, which is EXACTLY what I did for the last 14 years of my career. It's exhausting, but I'm just rolling with it and continuing to grind.
Keep it going, iam also trying last 4 months, hope is better than demoralising
Aw, some days are like that, you know?
