I’ve noticed that in a busy office, it’s easy to get caught up in always pushing forward and feeling guilty if you’re not constantly working. Maybe it’s just the retail industry. My wife and I just had our second child, and we have also been dealing with her cervical cancer diagnosis. It has been a stressful year, to say the least. I want to do something nice for her, but money is tight right now because of the cancer treatment costs, and her being on unpaid leave because of the cancer treatments. What is something low cost I can do that will be a nice “couples thing” so we can de-stress, but also make her feel special?

I gotta say, quarantine sucks but it made me realize I can cook my own damn steaks instead of dropping $$ for them at restaurants. All most of them do is salt and cook it. Would rather make a quick and cheap version of red wine reduction and happily eat my favorite meal.

Last week I had to explain to my child what “politics” (as in office politics) is. My child is going to a new high school and wants to play volleyball. There was a 3 day open “tryout” for incoming freshman for 2 teams. After the first day, she noticed that
1) there were obvious favorites (coaches are not even hiding that fact);
2) some can’t even play and got on the team,
3) some that can obviously play but did not get on the team;
4) decision were obviously made before the first day was over.

The internet is a cruel place. I searched for some home exercise equipment and instead I’m getting targeted ads for clothes that are more flattering to fat people.

So the internet is convinced I’m going to fail☹️

Does anyone feel like they don’t want to go back to normal? On the one hand, absolutely I want to. I miss seeing friends, dressing up, going out, and traveling for work. On the other hand I have saved so much money over the past year, spent a lot more time with family than I would have ever been able to, and actually rested and been able to focus on my wellness (started therapy and treatment for a chronic condition.)
