I am not in law school yet. But I was wondering where I can find out about other opportunities besides the standard tax attorney route. I am almost a CPA and currently in audit.

I would be very cautious right now with economic uncertainty on the horizon. I pray we don’t go back to these times, but ask attorneys that graduated in the mid to late 2000s how the legal market was if you did not graduate from a top law firm.

Whatever you do, aim high

like

Agree with this. If you want to go to law school to go into big law don’t bother unless you’re at a top school and you better be top of your class. Especially right now.

like

Well you can always aim for biglaw and make 200k+ first year out of law school.

like

I’d like to add that getting into biglaw isn’t exactly a walk in the park, even if you went to a T14 law school…

Should I specialize in Blockchain or AI? I’m a freshman in a CS degree and I can’t decide. My main argument to choose blockchain is the easy entry with little experience and high salary, I plan on growing my skills during the bear market and get a job once the market recovers. Regarding AI, I find this field fascinating but I feel like it requires a lot of experience, degrees and diplomas.

Is there such things as FP&A positions in Big 4? If so, are there better times to make the change than others (I.e. at senior vs manager)? I’m currently in FP&A and looking to work at a Big 4, or another company that offers the ability to move abroad. My current company and many others I know about do not offer the mobility to do so until much later, which is not what I want. Thank you.

Looking for advice (& empathy): Started out in advertising, then became a journalist. Moved to the US for grad school, and back to advertising few years ago. Now stuck at a company where I’m deeply unhappy but they sponsor the visa (not H1B, so it’s not a huge ask). Also not too sure of advertising as my heart is still in journalism but this pays the bills. Wary of other companies that might push me into working (most) weekends and evenings +Still don’t fully understand the US job market. Tips?

Based on the Gross salary offered I have calculated the in hand salary per month would be around 152000 considering 150000 in 80C, 50000 in NPS and 200000 deductions due to home loan interest. Total tax liability is around 400000. Any other options do I have to save tax further (other than HRA, LTA)? Thanks in advance.
