I was recently going through something similar, had tried getting a job lined up for about a year but wasn’t able to allocate enough time to the job search/interview process. I created a strict budget and recently left my job without something set up. I’m comfortable financially and am excited to pursue my own interests and curiosities. I feel like a HUGE weight has been lifted and I’m genuinely excited to wake up every morning to pursue what I choose. I plan on maximizing this free time, networking and choosing a position/company that will be a better long term for. Thankfully I’ve budgeted and saved enough to have this opportunity, but hey I’ll be working the rest of my life, 6 to 12 months is just a drop on the bucket.
Thank you for sharing!! Congrats!
If you’re confident that you would find a new job quickly, you could leave the current job as of June 2 then if you start a new job at the end of June there won’t even be a gap on your resume.
But really, you say you are burned out. If you can afford it, maybe take a longer, intentional break and use that time for travel, personal development, whatever you always wanted to do if only you had the time.
I feel all of the above but especially burnout. I’m tired and has started my search for a new job as of this week. I’ve let other jobs go because they didn’t have access to WFH but now I’m open to hybrid or in office just bc of how tired I am all the time. Nothing seems to improve with the companies processes. I am also confident I can find something soon, I got with a staffing agency and when I find something, I am taking it.
I had saved up for almost a year of comfortable living before I quit my last employer. I prioritized my mental health and knew if I didn’t give myself enough break I would get burnt out again. I remained unemployed for 4 months and that was enough for me to recover and start a new employment again. You may or may not need 4 months, but figure out how long you may need. Some people I knew took more frequent PTOs to give them enough time to interview and leave for another place.
The market is tough right now
