Good question, I also found myself thinking about it. My reasoning is, am I a different person compared to 1 - 2 years ago? Could I take on more responsibility / do something more / show that I've grown somehow in those 3 years? It doesn't mean that I switched job, it can also happen internally, but if it doesn't, it does mean that you made yourself comfortable and the world made some steps forward in the meantime. 2 years are a long time!
It depends on your next role and the company you are targeting, suppose that you git the role at SpaceX, if you left early, its actually a red flag that you couldn't make it the premier job destination
