I fly spirit and don't pay any fees. Its usually 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of a legacy carrier. I can pack for a week within my "personal item", I don't buy seats, I don't buy bags, I don't buy food or drinks, I don't buy wifi. Beat me up and get me there. The body doesn't remember pain.
And spirit just declared BK
I use Google flights to find deals. Often the budget airlines are the cheapest but sometimes you can find deals with the regular airlines for maybe $20-30 more (for domestic flights that is) and the experience is soooo much more enjoyable. But if it’s a short flight for just a weekend I usually just suck it up and go with the $40 round trip ticket from spirit and might splurge on a seat selection for an extra $9.
I have had good experiences with spirit but I get the club saver or whatever it’s called where you can pick a seat and pay to check a bag. even my 6 foot two husband liked the seats. He said they were roomier than anything else. He’s flown on in a long time and I agree. Flight attendants were awesome. Passengers were very nice.
I am wondering how Frontier Airlines is. Their seats I hear are not comfortable. It also seems like once you add all the fees it’s about the same as JetBlue.
