Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I think you should definitely try to negotiate offer 2 because of the level of work you’ll be doing and I also think that it would look amazing on your resume for your next job.
The experience I can gain from job number 2 is the reason why I want to take it even if they don’t budge from the base salary. I want to try to negotiate, but I don’t know where to start. I haven’t found a job that’s like it in the market.
I think the only explanation for job 2 that you provided was pretty clear! You can let them know that the $84k is an amount you would accept for maintaining a program and you request $x for building a program. Job 2 sounds like a LOT of work and self governing without direction, Hugh pressure and high stakes. From what you shared about your past experience, this sounds like an exciting opportunity for your career! If you are in the space (home life & physically healthy) to take on a challenge, go for it!
Otherwise… i would skip the traffic and stress and say hello to a nice consistent role that’s close to home!! Sounds amazing haha
Maybe you can look up on linked in similar roles and connect with people holding them and ask them? Unsure. I’m in private practice for a dental practice and we only bring in 5mil annual and I’m above $84
Program Manager role for a well known hospital in San Diego, CA. The JD is vague. Essentially there is a $2.5 million dollar grant and they want the person hired to take the ideas of the doctor(s) and bring it to life. Lots of community relations work. I worked in healthcare for 4 years, built two programs from scratch, and live in the community they want to build the program in. Oh and they really like my contacts I have in my community. During the interview it was revealed that they have no budgeting and forecasting expertise, but they estimate this position will last until 2026. I feel that they created the $84,000 salary out of thin air. Their first decision is to hire the Program Manger with the grant funds and have the Program Manager take lead on the program. AND the person will be shared with other departments to help on their programs/projects. How do I go about explaining why this salary is inadequate for the role. I am not just jumping into the program to keep it going, I will be building it from scratch! Please advise.
Job Offer Two is a much longer commute 45 minutes without traffic. But the benefits are amazing! 24 days PTO, widely known hospital name as an employer of choice, 3% matching for retirement vested after 3 years.
