Jobless for about a year. I'm considering my options at this point and need advice. I am a professional in unsecured credit and the roles I've been applying for say I'm too junior since I have about 2 years of relevant "finance" experience. Should I go back to school or continue to put my energy into finding a job? Should I take side certifications? It would be helpful if anyone could provide insight on the best course of action and get back into the industry.

I'm in Deloitte general consulting practice and have an opportunity to move over to Monitor strategy. The problem: Monitor fresh MBA grad hire is 100k while I'm underpaid at 60k. If I exit to another firm, my options are 100kish.

Spoke with someone who transferred to Monitor from general consulting and was told they did not match his pay (remained stagnant). Should I transfer for branding or jump?

Currently a staff in audit - 6 months in. Glad to be learning a lot, and have had a generally positive experience at the firm other than a few interactions, some tough busy season nights. Really been intrigued by TAS/M&A, however, and had a few convos with a senior in TAS i know at the firm. Edward Jones advisor with 30 million AUM and roughly 250k gross production. Been there for almost 4 years. Got an offer at Merrill Lynch to take over a 100 million dollar retirement transition plan in 5 years, or to join a 5 person Merrill Lynch team that manages a lot.

Pros to EJ: Have my own office, a year or two away from partnership, great office setting and client satisfaction.

Pros to Merrill: Bump in compensation, additional tools and services w banking, ability to take over assets.

Has anyone ever left finance (or know someone that has) to do something completely different? My experience is split between FP&A and accounting and while I have progressed, I am becoming depressed b/c I feel like I’m in the wrong field. I am generally a motivated, high performing person, but I al starting to slip up and care less, b/c my work is not satisfying to me. I know I just sound like a complainer, but does anyone have any advice?

I’m asking to get my notice period waived. I have a 30 day notice period per the employment agreement I signed, but it says they can waive it at any time after I gave notice. Im not going to a competitor or even the same industry. How likely is for my current firm to allow this?
