I had an interview with @cognizant all rounds done with HR AND Salary negotiation, after that I sent an email to them related to my offer status. However, they replied me as, we have kept you on hold etc.
And now @cognizant hr called me 3 times for job opening, and I have told them my offer is on hold. Now, they have scheduled interview. Is it for same or new. It's really confusing for me.
If they release old offer what we have discussed or they will interview me again

Ask ask ask! One of three things will happen.
1. You’ll get told no.
2. You’ll get what you ask for.
3. They’ll meet you half way.
Either way, congrats! It’s not easy getting a new job at any stage of your career. Enjoy the moment 😊
“Thank you very much, I’m very excited about the offer and the potential of this role. Given the current market rate, I was really looking to be at $XX.” no need to apologize or feel weird about it, negotiating is normal and part of the game, if they get weird about it that’s a good red flag anyhow. Worst case scenario they say no but probably they meet you half way.
Always a good idea to negotiate. Money isn’t the only thing you can negotiate though. Not a bad idea to ask for a 6 month review if normally they only do yearly. That gives you 6 months to prove you’re worth the $55,000 or more and also possibly a Art Director title. Got to be willing to work for it though.
Glassdoor can be wild sometimes, but what city? Never hurts to ask, even as a junior. I asked for 50 and got WAY less (years ago) but I at least got a few grand more than the original.
Doesn’t hurt to ask. $5k is tuppence to them and you won’t get a raise for a while unless you switch jobs. And if they made an offer they want you and will fork over the money, $5k won’t break their bank
New York City!
Wishing I was offered art director straight out of school 🤷🏽♀️
In NYC you can definitely ask for more. I started at 55k as a junior CW in 2011.
It’s never a bad idea to negotiate and ask. Worst that can happen is they saw we can’t and then you take what they offer (if you’re happy with it)
Never take the first offer ....
I got 55 out to portfolio school in NYC.
Ask for 60. Settle at 55. Don’t take 50. If they can’t throw you an extra 5k, they aren’t the real deal.
I got 45k in Chicago. Wish it was 50k but oh well
Always always always ask for more.
Yes ask for that extra 5k. And maybe more PTO.
^^^ yes, that. They expect you to push back, and don't apologize. Just say you've done your own research online and asked some friends in similar positions, and you think $57k is closer to where the industry is at at this point. They'll meet you in the middle, or they won't, but they won't be offended or surprised that you asked. It's pennies to them.
I am pretty sure 52k is the minimum in NY you must make NOT to earn overtime. It’s the reason so many agencies start at 52 or 55 now. So... use that knowledge. Ask for 55k and figure out how to ask them if at 50k that means you earn overtime. As a junior out of school I normally wouldn’t hire at over 55k. It makes giving raises that much more difficult because you startred higher than most. We try and keep salary bands.
If you are a crazy rock star with some special sauce skills - and an agency needs to hire fast you might get more. Also - they size of the agency matters in what they pay. Example: McCann pays more - and smaller agencies that don’t do much TV or have media accounts pay less. Good luck. It rarely hurts to ask for a little more. Agencies want to start people off on the right positive path. If 2k does that - we generally try. If it’s 50k and you want 60k.... that may be out of the determined range and it could be a red flag you’re more about money than wanting to break into the industry. Remember - getting into a great agency is as important and even a bit harder than making good money. The money will come if you’re good.
I got $55000 straight out of school in NY, but I had the designer position
Me too. 50k was normal for new juniors at my agency, asked for 55 and got it
Yes, definitely ask for more. I got offered 55k coming in as a junior and took it right away. Then I found out other juniors were offered the same and asked for more. And they got it. And then I felt stupid. The worst they can say is no, but they’ll probably say yes.
