Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
The job search is so nerve wrecking.
I have a weird question
I have given interviews in JPMorgan Chase for developer role and got the offer which is gud but interviews were not as tough as one might have expected from a reputed firm like jpmc.
Had 1 tech,1 tech-Manager round , Hire view test which was quite easy and an hr round.
Am a little worried about the standard of project and the team. I have offer from CIB Payments team. Checked with hiring manager and he said d role is for developer. Just worried abt quality of work

I’ve never heard of calling someone’s current firm as a reference for exactly this reason.
They better give her the job
Best practice is to confirm that current employer will not be contacted unless new firm has made an offer subject to last step of verifying current employment. If looking for a job at a big firm, applicant has to remember the back up vetting will probably be done by an HR person.
... were pissed and fired her on the spot.
My question is what were they thinking??? Who does that? I mean, calling someone’s current place of employment and announcing this person’s intention of leaving is obviously something very stupid to do. Is this really a thing?
Thats messed up. I mean, couldn't you just as easily verify employment by checking the firm's bio page? Wow.
That’s outrageous quite frankly. I was once on an interview when the partner shared his associate was fired after he was tipped off she had had an interview at another firm. These people are messed up.
Consider the possibility that the associate made the inept decision to list references on his or her application but did not inform the references of the desire to leave.
Why would you list your current employer as a professional reference if you didn’t want them to be contacted?
I don’t think the current employer was listed for reference, but rather whoever called just called the companies on the previous/current employment list
Do firms typically fire people on the spot after finding out they are looking? That’s brutal.
Could go one of two ways: I’ve heard of this happening and the existing employer matches or exceeds the new offer. It could, unfortunately, depend on how valuable the lawyer is to the firm
