Overrated firm. They just pay well to appear to be good

Yeah maybe a little. My firm will match though so it’s all good !

Worst career decision was to choose another firm over them that keeps trying to match the salary increases and bonuses like it’s the same, but not even close. I used to be against the Vault rankings, but I think they’re actually on point.

Yes the Morgan Lewis’ and K&L’s of the world will continue to try to keep up with the Milbank’s and STB’s of the world at the expense of their PPP

Hi All,

Was just told to "grow our ESG/CSR" practice at a regional consulting firm, due to my recent grad certification in sustainable biz strategy. Wondering where I should focus us as a services industry for big impact: we have a large product innovation, digital engineering area, and know in the past we've had a lot of lip service to clients and only recorded ESG for their compliance.

Hoping to make a big difference and include CSR/Sust audits and projects beyond for our clients! Any tips?

I have a Deputy CISO who constantly instructs us to not go to HR with top level compliance issues (because JP Morgan Chase frowned upon it). But these issues are pervasive to tone at the top and could cause non compliance. What should I do?

It's super frustrating to be "time poor".

That's seemingly just the nature of working in Biglaw.

But every day you have the option to buy back your time.

How do you buy back time?

It's simple—by saving and investing.

And you don't need to be uber wealthy to regain control of your time.

Consider this…

1st year. I have a decent amount of client email/phone interaction. One partner frequently asks me to communicate with clients, and the partner tells me to ask if I have any questions before emailing the client.

I almost always respond to the partner with my thoughts and ask partner whether P agrees with my thoughts, prior to emailing client. At what point should I be skipping that step and just email client? I’m worried about making a mistake, but most of the time P agrees with my “draft”

I’m currently a 2nd year associate in commercial finance. I’ve realized I don’t enjoy a a strictly transactional practice. I enjoyed litigation matters as a summer (particularly the adversarial nature). Also, love talking and advising clients. I don’t want the litigation lifestyle and appreciate the in-house opportunities of transactional. Assuming that I could switch (or lateral), I’m thinking I may enjoy employment (and the ability to defend and train/advise). I appreciate any insight.
