Just out of curiosity for those in the research area, when you started working and did animal research, were you shocked of how legally unprotected are the usual animals used for research like mice, rats and birds? As a Biologist who has done research and understands the importance of preservation of life and the appropriate use of lives for research, I was very shocked of how poorly they are used and protected in my job experience. Is it just me that cares too much?
