Laid off 2 months ago after 4 years as a Java/Spring Boot Backend Engineer. I have a potential Capgemini B2 BRE (Drools) offer. Since I already have BRE experience, I'm worried it may limit my future backend opportunities. I currently have no other interviews, so declining it increases my career gap. Should I accept the role and prepare for backend interviews in parallel, or wait for a pure Java/backend opportunity? Any advice from people who've made a similar transition?

Question for the bowl. Recruiter arranged an interview with a local legal firm for an Office Manager role next week. On paper everything looks great, but the firm has a reputation as being as "ambulance chasers" and for only hiring "good looking young people." I'm really not sure that I would fit in with that work culture. Have worked in web dev domain for the last 2.3 years with the last 1.5 years in React/Fullstack tech stack. Worked at 3 companies since 2019 till now, all with less than 20 overall people in each company (small companies). Want to switch to a big company with more people and diverse teams. Was advised to switch to data domain for long-term growth and progress. Please advise if choosing data engineering is a wise choice.
