Let's say you are thriving at J1 and J2. The leadership at J1 decides that change is good and rearrange managers. Your new manager is the epitome of micromanaging and clearly has control issues.

You try your best to "be present", but not to the satisfaction of your new manager. The more time you take to appease him/her, time is taken away from J2.

How would you resolve this? Make adjustments to your schedule or look for a replacement for J1?

I suppose the first move would be to try to change up the schedule and accommodate the change in circumstances. But if that doesn't work out, then I suppose it would be time to think about jettisoning the job that was becoming untenable. But, of course, it all depends on the circumstances. If the job is too valuable to give up, and may not be easy to replace, that's a dilemma.

If the salary and benefits are worth the heartburn, then the changes may be tolerable. Especially if you been there for a while and know that change will happen again.

Trying to set family expectations and would love thoughts on 2 things. 1. How long after baby will I be ready for visitors beyond our parents? I’m thinking a few weeks. 2. Our 3 grandmothers are 1-3 hour flights away (3 diff places) and cannot travel. When will we be ready to take baby to see them? I’m thinking 4-6 months but that would also be flu/RSV season. Can’t predict the future but family is already talking about trips and I want to set expectations and do what is best for baby. TIA!!

Additional Posts in Overemployed

I really want to get a second job but I am scared of losing my current one. Both companies are in same field, although not direct competitors so I know it’s technically “not allowed” however, this is the only way for me to get that $$ since I am not paid all that well.

Of course I won’t tell a single friend/coworker. Only my partner. And I don’t post work stuff on social media.

Realistically what are the ODDS of being caught? Is there a legal/HR process with which they could find out??

Ok, I’m in. What are the salaries of some of the jobs you guys are doing, and the daily demands (hours and typical time of day you need to be “online”)? Are we talking working 2 90k jobs or the second job is a $35k data entry side gig?

like

The first rule of overemployment is dont talk about overemployment to anyone outside your house. :). Second: always protect the main job. Third: As the main job always has the priority, the Second and third jobs must preferably be contract gigs with not too many meetings everyday. Remember: another day, another dollar.
