Damn I’ve been praying I have this same dilemma come the new year lol.
I would see if I could push the new job to the second week of the year so I could double dip on my dental and eye coverage for the year. If that’s not a possibility, I’d just give a heads up on my last day before the break.
Congrats on getting out of this mess🥲

I would still give two weeks notice, mainly because it’s a small industry and lots of people can be spiteful and you never know whose path you may cross in the future. If anything do it for your coworkers that will still be stuck where you’re at so you can end things on a good note with them.
Now if you do this on December 8th for a December 19th end date and your agency tells you to take a hike please know that they’re responsible for paying out your notice period.
Congrats on your new gig and for escaping while you can.
They are not legally responsible for paying you out of your notice period
2 weeks. Who knows- if they move faster you might get severance.
I would always give 2 weeks. Even if you hate them. You never know when being professional (or not) will affect something down the road. In addition, there is always the chance they ask you to leave early. That usually doesn’t change your last day/when you get paid until. Just what you do until then.
As for the acquisition, I would think they can’t pivot that fast. But if they are making up lists, you might keep someone else’s name off it down the road. That is, knowing you’re leaving means they would need to reduce budget by that much less.
If you put in a notice, regardless if they honor it or not, you won’t get severance. Just a heads up
