🥹😅😂🤣 I call BS. If the parent is present enough to observe (study/stalk) others at a LEGAL dispensary, then maybe they should MYOB?
Not sure what you mean by reprimanded, but if they're subjecting him to disciplinary action for doing something legal it sounds like he needs to talk to a lawyer. I imagine in states where it's legal there could be some guidelines about it, or prohibitions against it, in contracts, so that could be a consideration. But if the person isn't violating the terms of their contract there wouldn't seem to be a reason for a reprimand.
So a parent, who was buying their own stuff, complained about seeing someone else doing the same thing? Why can't these parents just mind their own business? Why do they care so much about what we do in our off time?
I am not personally a cannabis user, but I know people who are. Quite a few actually. Since it is legal in MA and there are at least two dispensaries in right in the town where I teach, and there are quite a few parents who also indulge, I don’t think there would be much that admin could do if a staff member used it during their own personal time. Teachers are humans with great big lives outside of work and not only is it not anyone’s business what we do during our time off, but also if our jobs are being done effectively, it should not matter.
It feels the same as seeing a parent in a liquor store after work or on the weekend. If I were being reprimanded, I’d hire a lawyer.

Kinda like buying anything that you’re allowed to buy. Who cares what anyone thinks? I would delete the emails and the voicemails…. A little bit less partial credit will be provided for the student as well (yes I’m joking about that 😆)
An actual reprimand?
If I understand the context, a parent buying THC products from a legal head shop is upset they saw a teacher doing the same. What about a liquor store or a bar or beer hall? I’ve had parents buy me drinks while I was at a local watering hole. Sheesh, parents need to grow up along with their kids. Now, if a family saw me buying S&M gear, I’d just say it was for Halloween! Of course, I may not see that family trick or treating at my house!
“I was conducting research, yeah, that’s it, research.” This is why I buy my booze in towns at least 20 miles away. Seriously, if legal in your state and not under the influence at work, your outside life is your life. I had a colleague years ago in the days before internet who liked to go to strip clubs…until one visit featured a student’s mom and another trip featured a former student. Awkward!
