Sometimes you really gotta wonder what these people are thinking. You aren't deserving or entitled to labor if you can't afford it.

Wow - SENIOR paralegal specialist? Even fast food workers here in Northern CA make $20/hour.

likefunny

Junior Frying Specialists at McDonald’s make more than that starvation wage.

And you wonder why the position is open...

I wouldn't get out of bed for $13 an hour.

What a joke!

I see that sort of lowballing so often and it is offensive! However, it helps weed out the firms where they don't value their experienced paralegals!

like

That’s below minimum! Surely a law firm kniws that is illegal!

like

It’s straight up insulting.

Question. Need some feedback.

I started a job as a paralegal and there was a senior paralegal already working there. About 1 1/2 year later they let the senior paralegal go. I took on his duties and continued my heavy workload. I want to request that senior title and more pay. I have 12 years experience as a paralegal plus education. The manager is not great. I want to talk to someone else. Payroll. Thoughts?

Must be a typo. This is why they're hiring.

I have been invited to participate in a 360 for a former manager. Per the email invite, my former manager chose the 360 participants although each evaluation is anonymous. This manager did not perform well. I am struggling with how to be honest and give examples and feeling embarrassed, imagining when she figures out that I wrote the comments. I have not submitted my evaluation yet. I would appreciate any advice.

How do you know when it is time to move on. I am the only litigation paralegal billing over 2,500 a year consistently. Love the boss I work the most for but that person has grown distant. Staff reviews were supposed to be complete this week and no one has mentioned mine. Underpaid by about $30k per market value. Torn and confused.

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

Any struggling paralegals here? Do you feel like your financial situation is affecting your productivity at work? I like the work I do but the pay really sucks. I feel like the fear of not being able to pay some bills on time is affecting my productivity. I’ve asked for a raise but that may not still cut it, and idk if that will go through or not.

I started working for a new law firm, much larger than the firm I was working for previously. The main attorney that I work under had noticed some mistakes I was making (I am a NY paralegal who took this position with the understanding that they’d be teaching me NJ and NYC real estate). Anyways, the attorney decided to tell the HR manager about the mistakes I had been making. Rather than HR discussing with me, the manager told my dramatic coworker to tell me..how should I handle this? Very hurt!

Has anyone dealt with a lack of praise from attorneys? I'm not someone who needs to hear "good job" all the time, but we just got a huge deal closed that I worked really hard on and had a lot of overtime. And once it closed, the lead attorney praised the other attorneys, and said nothing about me or my work. I might just be overly sensitive, but it kind of stung. Thoughts?
