Lived in both. Love both. Very different. NYC is sunnier, hotter, colder, way more humid; London greyer damper. London is filled with beautiful architecture; NYC is filled with skyscrapers. NYC is grittier; London more polished. London is more spread out; NYC more dense. London more expensive with fewer “ease of life” services vs NYC doorman building. Etc.
Have you ever lived in a different country? That is an experience worth having and isn’t always one that’s readily available. I’d jump on it. NYC will always be an option as an American.
Also it’s so close to mainland Europe that you can escape the dreariness anytime you want with ease. Impromptu wine tasting in France. Catch some sun along the Mediterranean. Pop into Oktoberfest. It’s all reachable by train and inexpensive, short flights
London for sure. It's much more cleaner, classier, has more "character" to it and is also historical.
Also you can take a 2-3 hour flight from London to Spain, France, Italy Netherlands etc and experience different cultures. Whereas taking a 2-3 hour flight from NYC would only take you till Texas, Indiana or Illinois lol
London
Currently live abroad so it’s more of a career defining question than an experience based question (Looking to transition to VC if that helps)
Nyc. Higher salaries in US
Where is your family and do you care about proximity to them? Matters more as you get older.
Lived in both. I’d personally chose NYC whilst I’m younger and have fewer responsibilities (wife, kids, mortgage).
London. Proximity to Europe can’t be beaten!
