Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Salaries are certainly lower in the UK.
I’d also be wary of the difference in US and UK office culture. Not many people talk about to, but it’s there. Got a US accent in the UK corporate world? Know how to write proper emails in the UK? How about knowing how to be polite? There are small but very important differences between cultures that you need to learn quickly or you can get left behind.
I live in nyc but work a lot in London. Personally I love the London culture. Work-life balance much more integral to the culture. Vacation more respected. Every day we went for lunch together and ate together at a table briefly instead of desks. Even on late nights the office vibe was upbeat. We’d play music, bring in beers, etc. I’d definitely consider moving.
Serious heads up though I’d be slightly worried about Brexit. My UK colleagues are all nervous about jobs being moved to EU cities, and expats will be hit first
Thanks for all the responses.
C1 - what does a proper UK email mean? Just more polite? For the record I was approached by them after working with them, so I’d like to think I’m at least tolerable in their eyes
London everything is tight people, money, roads, cars, houses, career path, salaries and don't forget to watch out for a low-level thief and pickpocketer
Everything is expensive iPhone usa is 1k USD and the same iPhone cost 1k Gbp
Good luck with the move
@A1 in what scenarios do you use expat vs immigrant? Asking for a friend
C1 I’ve never seen this. I get poked fun of endearingly for “zeds” vs ”s’s” but generally I’d say that if your manners hold up in the US you should be fine. Being a smaller market they also respect and appreciate the perspective of how we do some things at scale in the states, though I’m sure that varies by industry
Is it a rotation or transfer? Finances and visa
considerations will be dictated by the type of role and duration. Great opportunity! And yes the culture is different despite language commonalities. If you’ve been working with them I’m sure you’ve seen that!
