Exited M level consulting for a f500 D role in the $250-$300 range. Early 30s now - comp seems relatively standard for that level and YOE.

What’s the best way to get a significant bump? Stay where i am and try to angle my way into a higher level, or are there places where i could be doing much better?

Kids are expensive lol so trying to figure out how best to make more.

Don’t justify why you want to make more $. Change the mindset, and you will notice life changing even more positively. (I am a certified psychotherapist). More power to you, take care.

Great question. Good news is I diversified most of it upon each vest. Bad news is I diversified into an ETF tracking the industry that crashed almost as much (WCLD)

Lesson learned

How did you manage the exit to D. Share that info for the rest of us Ms. pay it forward

Well, making a move in the hiring frenzy of 2021 helped.

I was also able over the years to land a number of particularly unique engagements across different industries, some of which focused on emerging areas that became hot and very valuable experience to have. Happened across a role that intersected especially well.

But building unique experience and stories that you and your interviewers are genuinely interested in is probably the best advice i can give. If you’re at any big consulting firm, there probably are opps to do that. Happy to DM further.

Try to pivot to FAANG-tier jobs. Director roles are $400-800k depending on area of expertise.

I’m L5 with 8 YOE and expect to get promoted next year so could be possible in low 30s

At $250-$300 if your kids are stressing your finances, that’s a you problem, not an income problem. Even in NYC.

like

300 in NYC is 160 after tax / deductions. With kids you need at least a 2 bed and anything decent nowadays is around 5k per month.

That’s 100k left for everything a family of 3 or 4 would need. Possible to manage but def not a comfortable life in HCOL place like NYC.

What industry? What level of M / company did you exit at?

like

Which location is this OP?

NYC area 😫

You’re at $250-300. Your kids will be fine <3

OP 250 base or TC?

My TC is around that as well, 300 seems high, I wish it were that high!

Whats considered significant? What was your position previously? Any tech experience?

What’s the breakdown of TC?

VENT: I feel completely demotivated after our new FOW announcement and it gave me whiplash. Working here has been a dream, so it feels weirdly hurtful to be publicly celebrated as part of the “expanded talent pool” in announcements, but be told privately that my return to the office will be accompanied by a massive pay cut because of where I live. I didn’t choose to live here/move, the company chose ME where I’m at. I feel like I don’t belong because everyone else seems happy with this.

The attrition rate in Infosys for last 3 quarters roughly accounts to 75% (20+27+28). With nearly 3/4 of the company moving out in last 9 months, the Infy management have never seemed to have learnt a lesson from it.

Still no compensation revision given for employees who have been associated for long term (Say 4+ years)

Folks - Is there any compensation revision planned in the near future... considering the after effects of q1 fy23 attrition rise ?

Will I be exhausted if I do the part time? Is there something I’m not considering when it comes to the Full Time?
